There are more than 100 CRNA programs in the United States today. Each of these schools has been certified by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, or COA, and all of them are able to train capable CRNAs. However, there is no doubt that some programs are better than others. Here is a list of ten of the best CRNA programs in the United States.

Virginia Commonwealth University School of Nursing

VCU actually has several different programs for those wishing to become practicing CRNAs, so students can choose the best fit for them. VCU's program has been named the best in the nation, and it takes four years to complete.

Rush University College of Nursing

Rush University is located in Chicago, and 24-26 students are admitted each year. The program takes four years to complete.

University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing

The University of Pittsburgh's program is shorter than some of the other programs on this list. The program takes at least 28 months to complete full time.

Baylor College of Medicine Houston

Taking three years to complete, Baylor's program is shorter than many other programs, as well. Most students admitted to the program already have a Master's degree, with only 15 students with just Bachelor's degrees getting spots.

Military Nurse Anesthesia School

Located in Bethesda, Maryland, lists have placed this school as the top ranking CRNA school in the United States. Those currently serving in active duty in the United States military recieve free tuition. The program is 30 months full time.

Albany Medical College

Albany's program is 20 months long. Their medical center is one of the largest teaching hospitals in New York, and it is the only academic health sciences center in northeastern New York.

Cleveland Clinic Foundation

In addition to general anesthesia, the Cleveland Clinic Foundation also offers programs in cardiothoracic anesthesia. There is also a regional practice program that provides services to medical facilities in Ohio.

Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center (WFUBMC)

WFUBMC is located in North Carolina and is connected to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro's graduate program. They boast the oldest program in North Carolina.

Barnes Jewish College Nurse Anesthetist School

Located in St. Louis, the CRNA program at Barnes is actually considered a concentration, as opposed to a separate program, that students can choose while studying for their Master of Science in Nursing.

Duke University School of Nursing

The CRNA program at Duke is the second on this list located in North Carolina. For students who have already earned a Master of Science in Nursing, there is a post-master's certificate available.
